Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer provides critical support across engineering, production, field service, and customer-facing functions. This role is responsible for helping ensure electrical systems are designed, documented, built, installed, and commissioned to meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. The Electrical Engineer also provides technical guidance to internal teams and customers as needed. Some travel may be required.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 2D electrical drawings and schematics for hydraulic presses and related industrial equipment.
- Create, release, and maintain engineering bills of material (BOMs) and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Controls Engineering on equipment design and execution.
- Support Production, Service, Sales, and customers with electrical and technical questions.
- Identify and implement product improvements that enhance safety and performance while reducing cost.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field-service needs as required.
- Perform other engineering responsibilities as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
A.) Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and/or relevant industry experience.
B.) Experience
Preferred:
- 3-4 years of engineering experience with capital equipment, heavy machinery, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience creating electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, specifications, manuals, and other technical documentation.
- General knowledge of electrical controls and their functions on industrial equipment.
- Industrial machinery design experience; hydraulic systems experience is a plus.
- Experience with Made2Manage or other ERP systems.
- Ability to define and validate design parameters and perform tolerance analyses.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, technical, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in a smaller-company environment and willingness to be involved across multiple areas of the business.
- Programming experience such as Visual Basic or C is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation
- Full-time position; in person.
- Base Salary: $75,000 – $120,000 based on candidate experience
- 401k: 4% match
