Hydraulic Press Cycle Rate Calculator Description

This calculator can be used to estimate the production capabilities of hydraulic presses and pressbrakes. Speeds for each style of Pacific Press product can be found on the “Products/Technology” pages of this web site.

The speeds available can be used in any combination during a cycle except no work can be done in rapid advance. Stroke distances of less than one inch in rapid advance and ¼” in pressing speeds are not practical (example: If you require a 1″ total stroke, the press would run in pressing speed down and fast return up but not ½” rapid advance and ½” pressing with 1″ fast return). Also note that the total of advance distance and return distance must be equal.

The feed delay input can be an estimate of the time to hand feed a blank part or the time for a feed system to position the material. Other delays include things like dwell time, unload time or secondary operation times if required.

CALCULATOR DESCRIPTION »

If you’re performing coil fed blanking or forming press work on a Pacific hydraulic press, this program will allow you to enter all the job’s parameters (speeds and feeds for rapid advance; fast, normal and and slow press speeds; and any required delay functions) and then give you the estimated press cycle rate (as cycles per minute). You can also try other inputs to help “tweak” the program into an optimal performance. For rectangular part jobs, enter a similar parameters (material yield strength and thickness, as well as corner radius and straight line lengths) and draw tonnage and total tonnage figures are given.

* Holding or cushion tonnage is estimated at 1/3 of draw tonnage. Actual tonnage will vary as required to achieve a quality part.
