Pacific Tandem Press Brakes - K Series
Unmatched Synchronicity in Bending
The Metalforming Equipment Standard for Long Part Bending Applications
Pacific has been known for hydraulic bending leadership across a number of different markets and metalforming equipment applications-with the productive K-Series and Fabri-K Series designs representing the the best in manually and CNC-controlled precision fabrication. These fabricating equipment technologies can be hooked up in tandem (two or more) to deliver a unique solution toward forming extra long pieces. Plus, versatility to operate each machine as a separate unit is as simple as flipping a switch (electronic and hydraulic disconnection, no de-mounting anything, no physical connection between presses).
Compared to other tandem configurations, Pacific Tandem Press Brakes are fully synchronized…interfaced electrically and synchronized hydraulically. Others typically use an "on-off" control with limit switches. The difference? A wide gap in precision (rams move within .001") of each other, set-up (no need for a de-mountable connection between rams) and overall part accuracy.
Choose from 175 to 3000 ton standard models, 8-30' standard bed lengths.

Application Considerations:
-
Beds for each K or FK Press Brake are butted end-to-end with a small 1-1/8" gap between the rams to allow a reasonable amount of tilt. During operation, the adjoining male dies are positioned so the gap is as close as 1/16" to deliver a continuous die effect. - Customer typical bend shapes should be identified to ensure part production without any throat clearance problems. (deeper and/or higher throat designs might be applicable)
- Tandem K-Series Presses do not need to be the same length. Matching tonnages, however, are normally used, but different tonnages can be modified (via hydraulic design changes) so their velocities match to allow good synchronization.
- Removable wide platens may be installed on one or both machines. However, they will extend between side housings only and therefore, can not be used for full length tandem operation.
- Future expandability is possible. The possibility of buying one machine now and one later matches with the concept of growing your capabilities in steps.

Auxiliary Equipment
Moving and positioning long parts on a tandem system can be simplified and made easier with the addition of plate bending equipment to support, position and manipulate the sheet. Pacific has developed several options to address this requirement.
- Support Arms: Standard and heavy duty support arms up to 4' in length can be installed on the bed of the press brake for plate fabrication material support. Disappearing stops for bend location are available as an option.
- Material Supports: Floor mounted support rails with ball transfers for sheet metal and light plate or solid steel rollers for heavy plate can be specified in lengths of 6' to 20' Rails spaced at approximately 3' centers provide a staging area for sheets and support while moving the sheet into the bending location.
- Plate Manipulators: Hydraulically powered, chain driven plate manipulators installed in front and behind the press brake bed provide "hands-off' sheet manipulation. Joystick controls incorporated into two hand controls provide the ability to maneuver the sheet to the desired bend location. Front manipulators can be specified from 8' to 20' travel and rear manipulators have 5' of travel. Material supports front and rear are required with this option.
- Laser Bend Alignment: Two laser line generators — one at each end of the tandem system - project a visible line at the centerline of the installed tooling. A blank with the bend lines marked is moved into the press brake until the mark and the visible laser line are aligned and the press brake is cycled to accurately complete the bend. An optional center mount (removable) laser line generator is available when a single press brake of the tandem system is to be used.
- Part Extractor: Hydraulically powered, chain driven extractor system moves along the lower tooling to remove a formed part that either cannot be removed from the front of the press brake or is more easily removed by sliding it out of one end of the tandem system.
