DISCLAIMER: Actual drawing force is affected by many factors such as friction between the material and the die, material thinkness, material strength variations, rolling direction of the steel, work hardening, die lubrication, speed of draw, cushion pressure required and other parameters. This estimate calculates a preliminary value to be used for initial machine sizing. The die maker can provide a more accurate estimate of tonnage required.
The calculators below provide "rough estimates" of draw form. Most parts are neither simple circular nor rectangular parts. There are a number of more detailed methods of determining draw force for more complicated parts.
Instructions: Input values in the blue boxes. See table for yield strengths. Note: This provides an estimate of the tonnage necessary to draw form a circular part. Actual tonnage should be confirmed with the manufacturer of the die. |
